AMORE Research Seminar on Railway Optimization Problems

Konstanz, Germany, October 16-20, 2000

The EU-funded Research Training Network Algorithmic Methods for Optimizing the Railways in Europe (AMORE) has organized a research seminar on railway optimization problems. It was mainly addressed to researchers on a pre- or post-doctoral level. Interested individuals from outside the AMORE network were explicitly encouraged to participate.

Format and Topics

There were lectures introducing the participants to known problems and existing solutions in railway optimization. Problems included line planning, time table generation, and shunting, and an emphasis in solution methods was on shortest paths. The following speakers have given presentations:

Jan-Willem Goossens (Maastricht, The Netherlands)
Leo Kroon (Rotterdam, The Netherlands)
Marco Lübbecke (Braunschweig, Germany)
Alberto Marchetti-Spaccamela (Rome, Italy)
Rolf H. Möhring (Berlin, Germany)
Leon Peeters (Rotterdam, The Netherlands)
Dorothea Wagner (Konstanz, Germany)
Christos Zaroliagis (Patras, Greece)
Uwe Zimmermann (Braunschweig, Germany)
