Getting there

We advise you to travel to Zürich, either by train or plane. Zürich Airport is well-connected by train to downtown Zürich Central (Hauptbahnhof). From Zürich Central, Braunwald is easily reachable, using three modes of railway transport:

The total journey, including transfers between trains, takes 2 hours, and costs about CHF 40 = ± € 27 single way. We advise you to buy a ticket for the return trip in Zürich already, since Brauwald's railway station is very small and unregularly open. IMPORTANT: SBB's standard two-way tickets are valid only 24 hours! Therefore please specify the date of your return trip at the ticket counter.

There are also direct trains from Zürich Airport to Linthal, but those take 20 minutes more for the entire trip than a connection with a transfer at Zürich Central. More information on train connections between Zürich and Braunwald can be found at the Swiss Railways (SBB) Travel Online website: from Zürich (Hauptbahnhof) to Braunwald.

Braunwald

Braunwald is a car-free village, located in the southernmost part of the Glarnerland region. It faces the southeast and is located on a slightly sloped sun terrace, high above the Linth Valley at 1300 meters. Braunwald is far from traffic and a hectic lifestyle. The beautiful panorama of the Glarner Alps with Ortstock, Tödi, Biferten and Hausstock are all within clear view and appear just a step away.
