Efficient solution of railway optimization problems requires a coordinated interdisciplinary effort from various areas in mathematical optimization and theoretical computer science, including graph and network algorithms, theory of computation, approximation algorithms, formal methods, foundations of software engineering, combinatorial optimization, and algorithm engineering.
The goal of the workshop is to provide a forum for the exchange and dissemination of new ideas, techniques, and research in the field of railway optimization. In particular, the workshop is meant to bring together researchers from the above areas interested in ALL aspects of algorithmic methods and models for railway optimization, including those interested in formal software specification and implementation methods, and in formal domain and knowledge models of railway systems.
ATMOS 2002 will collocate with ICALP 2002 and is supported by the Human Potential Programme of EU under contract no. HPRN-CT-1999-00104 (project AMORE).
Papers are solicited in all aspects of algorithmic methods and models for railway optimization problems including (but not limited to):
Authors are invited to submit via e-mail an extended abstract (max 10 pages) including their fax number and e-mail address to
atmos2002@fmi.uni-konstanz.de
The extended abstract must be received by 2 April 2002. Authors will be sent notification of acceptance or rejection by email after 30 April, 2002.
The proceedings of the workshop will be published in a single volume including all papers presented to satellite workshops of ICALP 2002. A final copy of each accepted paper is required by 15 May 2001.
The workshop collocates with ICALP 2002.
